Topba Tasks Ogoni Leaders On Rural Dev.
The National Coordinator of Ken Saro Wiwa Associates, Chief Gani Topba has challenged Ogoni leaders to incorporate rural dwellers into their leadership programme.
Chief Topba said this in an interview with newsmen at Bori shortly after a session with some Ogonis living in the rural areas.
The activist told newsmen that his interaction had shown that people living in the remote rural communities were faced with myriads of problems, stressing that the only way to know this was to interact with them.
According to him, the interactive session was organised to find out the problems confronting rural dwellers in Ogoni with a view to providing solutions to them.
“In the struggle to make the society better, you must get closer to the grassroots.
In doing that you must make sure Ogoniland is secured.
“Again you must know their problems and find solutions to them”. He said that the Ken Saro Wiwa Associates was poised to implement the template of later Ken Saro Wiwa and restore his legacy.
“I challenge Ogoni leaders to get to the grassroots and by so doing know the problems of the people”.
Chief Topba further told journalists that the interview had shown that the Ogoni folks were willing and ready to welcome investors into their land, stressing that Ogoni is safe and open for investment.
