IUOE VC Harps On Sports In Education Dev
The Vice Chancellor, Ignatus Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Prof Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele has described sports as a veritable tool in the development of education.
Ndimele stated this during the final tournament of the IUOE 2018 Vice Chancellor’s Cup tournament held at the institution’s play field in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Wednesday.
The Vice Chancellor commended the maturity and experience exhibited during the competition by the students, noted that there were no losers because the tournament was organised to serve as a platform for recreation among the students.
He urged the students to use such events as an opportunity to exhibit their skills, pointing out that most of the National players playing for the country today were spoted out in similar competitions in various high institutions of learning in the country.
Earlier, the chairman of the university sports committee, Prof Sam Otamiri lauded the vice chancellor for the initiative assured that a sports fiesta which would include other areas of sports would soon be held in the university.
He challenged teams that did not do well this year to return to the training pitch ahead of next year’s encounter, and asked the winners of this year’s edition not to rest on their oars.
