FCOE (T) Omoku Gets New Acting Provost
The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, Rivers State has approved the appointment of Dr Pac Ordu as Acting Provost for the college.
Dr Pac Ordu, an indigene of Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government of Rivers State was until his appointment, the Deputy Provost of the institution and takes over from the immediate past provost of the college, Dr Bassey Ubong, whose tenure ended on March 31, 2018.
The governing council of the college headed by Professor Aminu Maikalu at its 78th meeting appointed Dr Pac Ordu to head the college on acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive provost for the institution by the Federal Government.
Dr Ordu who joined the services of the college in 1995 as a lecturer 111 and rose through the ranks to become a chief lecturer in 2014 has served the institution in various capacities such as Dean, School of Business Education, Head of Department, Secretarial Education, member, College Management Committee, member, Academic Board, Ag Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Research and Development, Chairman, Board of Centre for Entrepreneurship Research and Development (CERD), Coordinator, College Business Centre among others.
According to the governing council, the new acting provost was appointed to provide the strong leadership needed in the college pending the appointment of a substantive provost for the college by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He holds a Ph.D in Business Education (Entrepreneurship) from University of Uyo, M.Ed Business Education and B.Sc Secretarial Administration both from the then Rivers State University of Science and Technology , Nkpolu, Port Harcourt. He is the man behind the entrepreneurial growth and development of the college.
Meanwhile, the immediate past provost of Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, Dr Bassey Ubong while handing over called staff, students and friends of the college to support and work in harmony with the acting provost, Dr Pac Ordu as to move the college forward.
In his response, the acting provost, Dr Pac Ordu thanked the Almighty God, members of the college governing council led by Professor Aminu Maikalu and the immediate past provost, Dr Bassey Ubong for the appointment and solicited for support and cooperation from all.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector.
