Politics: Don’t Sit On The Fence, Banigo Tells Women
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo has called on women to participate actively in politics.
The deputy governor stated this at a women’s programme put together by the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries in Port Harcourt.
Banigo said the State Chief Executive, Chief Nyesom Wike, as a gender-friendly governor, was encouraging women to participate actively in politics, so it behoves on women to stop sitting on the fence and get involved in politics.
“Get your PVCs, participate in your communities, and join pro-PDP organisations like the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI) and the Wike Solidarity Movement (WSM) to mobilise support for the governor,” she stressed.
The Deputy governor called on security agencies to carry out their constitutional responsibilities without bias to ensure that votes count, and expressed the hope that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would conduct free, fair and credible elections in 2019.
Banigo said the theme of the women’s programme, “Restoring God’s Glory”, was apt because women were special, noting that it was the seed of the woman that would destroy the works of the devil.
She said the decision of the women to set up a training centre for women was very commendable and in consonance with the policy of Wike, who was committed to ensuring that women were skilled, empowered and educated enough to be the best they could be.
In her remarks, the state Women Leader of the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, Mrs Gloria Egbunefu said the women of the church were grateful to the Almighty God for using Banigo to work with Wike in bringing good governance to the state.
