Group Blames High Moral Decadence On Materialism
A Christian organisation, Christ Harvest Time Fellowship International has blamed the high level of moral decadence in the society on the craze for materialism and lack of fear of God.
The group which said this during the inauguration of its Rivers State Chapter at the weekend in Port Harcourt said that the present generation of the Christian had become more worldly and materialistic, thereby abandoning the sacred principle of the gospel: the salvation of the soul.
According to the group, the situation has made millions of people across the country to see the acquisition of material wealth as the only way of life.
National coordinator of the group, Bishop Godswill Jumbo said that the group which had been inaugurated in Delta and Edo States, was in line with the great commission of Jesus Christ, to make disciples of all nations.
Bishop Jumbo said that the inauguration was to prepare the members in Rivers State to carry the message of repentance to all the remote villages across the state.
“This body is gathering for the great commission. It is for an assignment that God has given to the Church which is to go out and preach the gospel to all the nations”.
The National Coordinator noted that if the message of salvation was properly preached by the Church, the rate of antisocial vices would be reduced.
He said that restiveness will be checked, while the society particularly the youths will be made to see hardwork as the only way to succeed in life.
In his sermon, Rev. Tari Ekiyor of Church of God Mission said that the gospel of Christ was the solution to Nigerian’s problems.
Rev. Ekiyor said that if the Christians increased the level of evangelism to all the nooks and crannies of the world, violence and other forms of antisocial vices would stop.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the state coordinator of the group, Bishop Dr. Frank T. Benson said that members would comb all nooks and crannies of the state to win souls for Christ.
