RSG Directs Schools To Vacate, Thursday
The Rivers State Government has directed all public and private schools to proceed for the second term Easter holiday vacation starting from Thursday, 29th March to 23rd April, 2018.
The state Commissioner for Education, Dr. Tamunosisi Gogo-Jaja gave this directive in a statement issued in Port Harcourt over the weekend, adding that all schools must comply with the directive accordingly.
The statement said the third term academic session according to the state academic calendar would commence on April 23rd 2018 and urged all schools in the state to take note of the dates.
The statement further said all private schools proprietors were requested to report to the office of the Commissioner for Education for revalidation of all approvals and renewals with effect from the date of this announcement.
The statement also said that the Ministry of Education thanked the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike for graciously approving the subsidy for candidates in public schools who are registering for the 2018 NECO exams in the state and urged parents and guardians to encourage their children and wards to register for the NECO exams so as to utilise the good gesture of the state government as well as offer them another alternative to make their O’level papers.
