Cleric Harps On Good Child Upbringing
A Seventh Day Adventist’s clergyman, Pastor Godspower Onu has called on parents to always strive to train their children in the fear of God to enable them become responsible in the society.
Pastor Onu, a Ministerial Director of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Port Harcourt Conference, Rivers State made the call during the child dedication service of Master Destiny Isaac Chimezie held at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Aker Rumuolumeni in Obio/Akpor LGA last Saturday.
Master Destiny is the son of Hon. Chimezie Ogbu, a member, Caretaker Committee of Etche Local Government Area of the State as well as the Supervisor for Works.
Speaking at the dedication service, the man of God listed three reasons why people dedicate their children to God.
According to him, “people dedicate their children to thank God for given them the children, make promises before God as well as hand over their children to God for protection and guidance”.
He urged parents to always solicit for God’s assistance in taking care of their children, adding that bringing up children in the fear of God will help to correct the ills of the society.
Pastor Onu stressed the need for parents to always live exemplary lives to impart a positive life style in their children, adding that building a peaceful environment devoid of acrimony will impart a positive life on their wards.
In an interview with The Tide, Hon. Chimezie Ogbu, thanked God for given them a child without challenges and promised to train him in the fear of God as well as make, him an instrument in the vineyard of God.
He used the opportunity to urge those who are waiting on the Lord for children to exercise patience and place their trust in God, adding that He never fails the righteous.
