Put God First In Your Marriage, Banigo Urges Couples
The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo has advised newly married couples to be prayerful and put God first in order to make their marriage successful.
The deputy governor gave this advice during the solemnisation of Holy Matrimony between Miss Maybelle Ejieme Kakulu and Mr. Tonye Lloyd Membere–Otaji at the Christ Church Interdenominational in Port Harcourt.
Banigo said by taking Maybelle to the altar, Tonye has found himself a help mate, stating that patience, tolerance and sacrificial love for one another were virtues that promote successful marriage.
The deputy governor, who congratulated the couple for taking the bold step, prayed the Almighty God to give them a blissful marriage.
Earlier, the Officiating Minister, Rt. Rev Bamidele Ibikunle, said marriage was an idea created by God, a programme specially designed for the good of man because God himself said it was not good for a man to be alone and decided to create a woman for the man.
He, however, regretted that today, one of the greatest challenges facing mankind was the deliberate attempt by some people to truncate the will of God by having same sex marriages.
Ibikunle said mutual fidelity, love, commitment and responsibility were hallmarks of a happy marriage.
