RSNC Boss Tasks NGOs On Youth Character Moulding
The General Manager of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), Mr Vincent Ake, has charged non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Nigeria to pursue a cause to advance character moulding to grow people in knowledge and fear of God for peace and development of the country.
Ake gave the charge when the League of Character Club Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Port Harcourt.
Mr Ake, who was represented by the Editor of the The Tide Newspaper, Mr Donald Mike-Jaja urged the organisation to take its campaign to churches and grassroots to catch young people in character moulding, saying that moulding people for good character and knowledge would reduce violence and hardship in the country.
Responding to their purpose of visit, Ake reiterated the corporation’s readiness to partner with the League of Character Club of Nigeria to sponsor Dappa Biriye 2017 Football Competitions in South-South Zone of Nigeria, coming up in August, 2017.
The GM, who noted that the corporation had been the co-sponsor of Dappa Biriye Championship League since 1994, promised that the establishment as a media house would provide free coverage to the activities of the football competition.
The GM, accompanied by the Director, Production of the corporation, Dagogo Clinton and the Director, Administration, Mrs Emi Jameson to host the group’s delegation, commended the organisation for its commitment in sensitising people on the need to imbibe good character for nation building.
He later presented copies of The Tide Newspaper to the organization.
Earlier, the President General of the league of Character Club of Nigeria, High Chief Christian A.Y. Kokoriko said the delegation was at the Corporation to solicit its partnership in sponsoring of the upcoming Dappa Biriye Football Competition for South-South states in Nigeria.
Kokoriko, who is currently serving as Nigeria representative of International Age of Character Club USA of the University of Science and Philosophy Swannenoa Waynesboro, Virginal USA, explained that Dappa Biriye Football competition will kick-start in August, 2017 for states in South-South Zone of the country.
According to him, the competition is part of the club’s programme to build young people in the zone for football career and other sport activities.
He said, a part from sport, the organization has been embarking on campaigns and other awareness programmes to build people in term of empowerment and skills acquisition.
Kokoriko commended the management of the Corporation, particularly the GM for injecting more development into the Corporation, saying that The Tide is now known worldwide in the area of information dissemination and high standard of the newspaper.
