IJBCOE Matriculates 250 New Students
Isaac Jasper Boro College of Education, Sagbama , a state-owned Teachers’ Training institute during its 7th matriculation ceremony, admitted 250 students.
Speaking at the event, the Provost of the college, Prof. Saviour Nathan Agoro said the college was not only set for full accreditation but also for upgrading to a degree awarding institution.
Prof. Agoro said this could not have been possible without the cooperation and support from the visitor to the school, Governor Seriake Dickson who had graciously facilitated the provision of infrastructure that would make the accreditation easy.
He used the opportunity to warn students against examination malpractice and cultism which ultimately will ruin their career.
He listed some reasons why many students joined cultism, among which the Provost said were the need for good feeling and companionship, quest to possess power and to halt others, laziness in order to intimidate lecturers, to acquire cheap popularity, to extort favour among others.
The Provost pointed out that there were no acceptable reasons for a decent person to demean himself by associating with a group that can’t boast of its existence in the public and reiterated the state government’s resolve to outlaw cultism in all institutions of higher learning. He warned against all forms of examination malpractice and placed high premium on the wellbeing and peace of all citizens.
For any student to achieve his desire, he warned them to desist from and resist any association that is cult related as the school is well prepared to deal decisively with any cult group on campus.
He also warned against sales of handouts, sexual harassment and seductive dressing among lecturers and urged any victims to report such cases to the school authorities.
