WAEC Records 35% Pass In Nov/Dec WASSCE
The West African Ex
aminations Council (WAEC) last Friday released the November / December result of its West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for total of 172, 621 private candidates a sat for the examination. This amounts to 38.50 per cent, recording credits in five subjects, including English and Mathematics. Announceing the release of the results at the Nigeria’s office in Lagos, the Head of WAEC in the country, Mr Olu Adenipekun, said the percentage of pass recorded by candidates is an improvement over what was recorded in both 2014 and 2015.
According to him, about 29.37 and 20.59 per cent had secured credits in five subjects, including English and Mathematics in the last two years respectively.
He said that 19 visually impaired candidates registered for and sat for the examination with four of them obtaining five credits in five subjects including English and Mathematics.
The WAEC boss attributed the improvement to the commitment of various stakeholders within the education sector, including parents, teachers and state government.
