Kattey: Prayers Key To Low Violence

The Archbishop Province of Niger Delta and Bishop Diocese of Niger Delta North, Most Rev. Ignatius Kattey, has attributed the low level of violence witnessed during the legislative rerun elections in the state on the prayers of Christians.
Kattey, who said this during a press briefing on the forth coming 20th anniversary of the Diocese of Niger Delta North in Port Harcourt, also cautioned politicians against acts capable of destablising the state.
Meanwhile, the Diocese of Niger Delta North, has unveiled programmes for the commemoration of its 20th anniversary.
Kattey told a newsmen that the celebration will start on Friday 16th December 2016 with singing competition, anniversary lecture and book presentation while award night/fund raising dinner is billed for Saturday 17th December 2016.
He said that the celebration will be rounded off on Sunday, 18th December, 2016 with the investure of Knights, cutting of the anniversary cake and thanksgiving service.
Kattey said that the Diocese, which was created in 1996 with eight Archdeacons and 90 Districts/Parishes now has nine Archdeacons, nine Deaneries, 41 parishes, 49 stations, 177 clergymen, 100 churches with 11 missionaries and seven foreign missions, fields.
“The Diocese which has missions and evangelism as its heart beat has foreign missions in Cameroun, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Mudagascar Ghana, Italy and Canada.
“The Diocese has also given birth to five Diocese, namely; Ahoada, Ogoni, Etche, Ikwerre and Evo “, he said.
The clergyman noted that the Diocese will continue to expand its activities with a view to propagating the gospel of Christ, across the world.
He said that the 20th anniversary celebration will attract dignitaries including Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike and the Primate of Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh.
