Federal Civil Servants Tasked On Dedication
Workers in Federal Government establishments have been advised to be law abiding and committed to their duties amidst the slash in their November 2016 salaries.
Some heads of parastatals gave the charge at the 2016 end-of-year sendforth party of the Association of Heads of Federal Establishment in Port Harcourt Rivers State on Thursday.
The chairman of Federal Association of Heads of Establishments and state coordinator Federal Character Commission (FCC), Rivers State, Mr Henry Owunaro and the controller Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Port Harcourt, Mallam Bello, in their speeches called on the Federal Civil Servants to give the government time to put modalities in place in the country.
“For now, I want to believe that the federal government has a good reason to have done that.
“So I want to advice my colleagues in the Federal Service to be patient for now to enable us look at the reason why they took the decision “, they said.
The Zonal Director of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), South-South Zone, Engr. Jonas Emechebe who chaired the occasion called for collective reasoning in addressing the issue to ward off misconceptions.
“It is part of the sacrifice we are going to make to our fatherland and those in the leadership should reason together with those they are leading and take necessary decisions” he advised.
Emechebe described the gathering as an important time for coming together to unwind and celebrate with one another.
“It is not work, work, work, we are here to ease tension and reduce stress”, he said.
Former chairman of the association and initiator of the end of year party, Mallam Ismaila Ogu, said the gathering was a platform for unity and to show appreciation to its members, including those that were retiring.
Some of the retirees who were recognized included Mrs Tonia Enwere, who retired as the zonal coordinator, South East Zone, Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service, Port Harcourt, and the immediate past chairman of the association, Chief Dufegha Emmanuel.
