Quality Leadership, Key To Dev – Banigo
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo has been honoured with the Strategic Leadership Award by the Rivers State Chapter of the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria.
Speaking while receiving the award, the deputy governor, who was represented by her Special Assistant on Legal Matters, Barrister Ishmael Blue-Jack, canvassed for quality leadership to drive the resources of the country to achieve the desired socio-economic and political development of the nation.
Banigo identified leadership and management as key towards addressing the country’s challenges, and urged organizations such as the Institute of Strategic Management to come up with leadership and management strategies that would assist the government in transforming the society.
The deputy governor, who described the Institute of Strategic Management as a quality and noble institution, commended them for finding her worthy for the award, and restated the commitment of the state government to partner with organizations whose aims are geared towards building an egalitarian society.
In his speech, the National President of the institute, Dr. Emman Oyeka, while presenting the award said the recipients were honoured for their commitment to personal development, years of dedicated hard-work, excellence in public services, humanitarian services and congratulated them on their well-deserved honour.
Also speaking, the Deputy Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Marshal Uwom, who was inducted as a member of the institute, said his membership of the body would enable him acquire more leadership and managerial skills for effective representation.
Earlier, the former state chairman, who is now the 1st National Vice President of the Institute, Mr. Alex Ndudi Enebeli, stressed the urgent need for the diversification of the nation’s economy in view of its dwindling fortune.
Enebeli called on the state government to maximize the potentials of the natural resources of the state to put in on the fast lane of economic development and prosperity.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
