SIAL 2016: Promosalons Organises Delegation To Paris
With Nigetia’s popula
tion estimated to be over180 million and the decline in income generated from crude oil which has been the mainstay of the nation’s economy, the federal government is making concerted efforts towards diversifying the source of revenue from crude oil to other sectors with food processing and agriculture as top priorities.
The world’s largest food innovation exhibition, SIAL 2016 is the opportunity for professionals in the food production and processing sector of Nigeria to key into the federal government’s desire and initiative to diversify the economy from the over dependence on oil.
According to a release obtained by The Tide in Port Harcourt recently, for Nigerians to participate in exhibition, Promosalons Nigeria, which is the exclusive official representative of Promosalon France in Nigeria, will be organizing a business delegation of Nigerian companies to this year’s SIAL Trade show from 16th to 20th of this month in Paris, France participants from Nigeria will be afforded the rare opportunity to meet, interact and engage with top brands in the food processing and production sectors from around the world with the view of exploring latest innovations, technologies and establishing prospective partnership.
Many Nigerian companies will be attending this year’s SIAL as well as delegations from the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), StarFruit Food Limited, Levi’s Kitchen, amongst others, with over 100 countries represented and 7000 exhibitors expected.
SIAL 2016 is the global food market place for food industry professionals.
Representatives of the entire global food industry will therefore be in paries on October 16, ready to find and share the solutions, required to feed the world for the next 30 years.
Interestingly, the exhibition coincides with the United Nations’ World Food Day Celebrations.

FG, Ogun Distribute Inputs To 2,400 Farmers
Federal Government and the Ogun State Government, on Wednesday, distributed farm inputs to farmers as part of effort to address food security challenge.
The State Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Toyin Ayo-Ajayi, during the flag-off ceremony of Inputs Redemption Under The National Agricultural Growth Scheme-Agro Pocket (NAGS-AP), in Ogun State, disclosed that beneficiaries of the gesture were primarily rice, maize and cassava farmers across the State.
Ayo-Ajayi commended the Ogun State Government for partnering with the government at the centre for the effort in supporting farmers with inputs that would bring about yieldings for local consumption and likely exportation.
She noted that government is supporting rice, cassava and maize farmers with inputs worth N212,000; N189,000 and N186,000 respectively.
The Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs Kehinde Jokotoye, who represented the Commissioner in the Ministry, Bolu Owotomo, stated that traditional farmers are critical in food production, hence the need to encourage and support them with inputs that would bring about desired results during harvesting.
Owotomo said: “Let us make good use of this opportunity, so that the success of this phase will make farmers benefit more from the state and federal governments of Nigeria.”
Earlier, State Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Oluwatoyin Ayo-Ajayi, appreciated the present administration for partnering with the federal government for the initiative, adding that the programme is designed to support farmers at the grassroots level in cassava, rice and maize with inputs such as, seeds, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, to boost their production and enhance their livelihood.
