Indomie Celebrates With Widows, Others In PH
Over 500 widows
and fatherless including inmates of Homes for the Elderly, Harbour Road, Port Harcourt and Cheshire Home, Borokiri in Port Harcourt, have been presented with gift items ranging from cartons of indomie noddles and others by the management of De-United Food Industries Limited, makers of indomie noodles.
The occasion was part of the celebration of the International Day of Charity by the company and Christian Help Outreach (CHO), a Port Harcourt-based charity organisation.
President of the outreach, Pastor Independence Enyindah, said the event was concluded with the regular prayer session of the outreach for widows and their children to seek God’s intervention to their plights.
Pastor Enyindah said that the group has carried out a series of progammes for the less- privileged, adding that a number of widows’ children have been trained in various skills as well as offered scholarships to study in various institutions of higher learning in the country, and that some of them had graduated and are contributing positively to the society.
He used the occasion to thank the management of De-United Industries Limited for their support and urged other organisations to emulate the example of the company by identifying with the less privileged in the society.
Also speaking, the Area Marketing Manager of De-United Industries Limited, Mr. Kunle Osinoki said that it has been part of the corporate social responsibilities of the company to support the less privileged in the society.
Mr. Osinoki said that apart from the event, the company has also visited Home for the Elderly at Harbour Road and Cheshire Home, Borokiri Port Harcourt.
He assured that the company will continue to support the less privileged in the state and urged others to do same.
Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries Godwin Princewill Onyinyechi, a 14-year-old fatherless, has said that the gesture was a demonstration of the commitment of the two organisations to improve the condition of the less privileged. Also, Mrs Rhoda Jacob Felix, a widow, commended the groups for putting smiles on their faces. She urged other groups to emulate them.
