Community Condemns Pleasure Park Protest
The Paramount ruler of
Rumuola in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Eze (Dr.) Oziri C. Oziri, the Ohia Che Erii II, has condemned in strong terms the recent demonstration by some misguided youth at the site of Port Harcourt Pleasure Park at Aba/Port Harcourt Expressway.
The monarch, who addressed the press in his palace, weekend, said the group of yet to be identified persons did not belong to any community meeting or participate in any activity in the area.
Oziri pointed out that the action was targeted at discrediting the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike whom he said had well brought development to the community.
He maintained that the protesters were hired and sponsored by the opposition with a sole reason of causing disaffection in the state, adding that with the up grading of the former College of Arts and Science, Rumuola to a Polytechnic, Governor Wike deserved commendation from the people.
The paramount ruler who spoke on behalf of his people, noted that the community had since disassociated its self from the wanton demeanour of the protesters and called on the general public to dismiss their claims as untrue.
It would be recalled that some youth in Rumuola on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, demonstrated at the construction site of Port Harcourt Pleasure Park, alleging that they were not carried along by the contractor.
The Tide further learnt that reasonable man-hour was lost as the protest lasted for about five hours, but no life was lost nor property destroyed.
