The Rivers State
Government says it has set up a peace and conflict reconciliation committee aimed at reconciling rival cult groups in Ahoada West Local Government Area.
The Special Adviser to Governor Nyesom Wike on Conflict Resolution, Okorie Abelegom announced this at the end of a one day security meeting in Ahoada West.
The SA on conflict resolution said the government was worried about on-going cult related killings in the state.
Abelegom said the peace campaign will be taken to the three senatorial districts of the state.
He advised cultists to lay down their arms and engage in meaningful ventures.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, Enitton Iyalla, said the people of Ahoada West now live in fear following daily killings by suspected cultists.
Our correspondent reports that the security meeting was attended by representatives of security agencies in Rivers State and officials of the Rivers State Government.
