Mrs Ayade Unveils Pet Projects To Donors
Wife of Cross River State Governor, Dr Linda Ayade, has presented her pet projects to the United Nations (UN) Agencies, under the auspices of Mediatrix Development Foundation.
Mrs. Ayade unveiled the projects at the 2015 retreat of the United Nations Joint Team on AIDS, held at Tinapa Business Resort in Calabar.
The Wife of the Governor represented by the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Mediatrix Development Foundation, Mr. Manz Denga, appreciated the level of development by UN systems in the state over the past years and urged leaders at all levels to take advantage of their support and selflessly work towards improving the lives of the citizens.
She reiterated her desire in floating a foundation to protect the rights of children, women and the less privileged, adding that, her passion is deeply rooted in her desire to create a platform through which she can assist the vulnerable and less privileged in the society as well as improve the living conditions of children and women; especially widows and the aged in the state and nation.
She further disclosed that the Foundation will focus on the protection of orphans and vulnerable children, social support for women, and the aged, as well as health care.
The Governor’s Wife emphasized her determination to ensure the enforcement of the State Child Right Laws, 2009, pointing out that she is working on a documentary that will draw the attention of police, law makers in the state and the International Community to the practice of forced early marriage, currently going on in a certain community in Obanlisku Local Government Area.
