Rivers State Broadcasting
Corporation (RSBC), operators of Radio Rivers 99.1FM, has pledged its commitment in bringing the vision and mission of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike administration to the doorsteps of Rivers people.
The General Manager of RSBC, Sampson Fiberesima, in a statement in Port Harcourt expressed the joy of management and staff of the corporation over the victory at the polls and assumption of office of Chief Wike as the 5th democratically-elected governor of the state.
Fiberesima said Wike’s victory at the poll clearly showed that “when we unite as a people, there is no obstacle we cannot surmount.”
According to him, the governor’s massive support received from Rivers State during and after the election indicated widespread disenchantment with the previous order and clamouring by Rivers electorate for a government that would protect the collective interest of the state.
The RSBC boss said Rivers State was in need of a dynamic and pragmatic leader who would break the vicious cycle of poverty and oppression that operated against Rivers people.
He remarked that God answered prayers of Rivers people on April 11, 2015 by raising a leader of Wike’s pedigree to retrieve the state from its abysmal depths.
As the voice of the government and people of Rivers State, the RSBC general manager said Radio Rivers 99.1FM would continue to identify with the policies and programmes of the new government in the state as enunciated in the manifesto of the New Rivers Vision.
It would be recalled that on June 20, 2015, Governor Wike ordered the immediate removal of RSBC boss, Ms Mediline Tador and replaced her with Mr. Sampson Fiberesima.
No reason was given for Tador’s removal, but a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Sir Opunabo Inko-Tariah, said the appointment of Fiberesima takes immediate effect.
