Assist Buhari To Develop Niger Delta – Sara-Igbe
Former Security Adviser to ex-Governor Peter Odili of Rivers State, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, has urged people of the Niger Delta to assist President Muhammadu Buhari to develop the region.
Sara-Igbe made the call in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt.
He said the Niger Delta region needed massive development and urged the people of the region to come together and form a common front to ensure the President was not distracted from attending to the needs of the area.
According to him, the threat by ex-militants of going back to the creeks is not necessary, as it will not be in the interest of the Niger Delta.
“I want to advice our sons not to contemplate going back to the creeks as an option to drive home the demands of the oil producing areas,’’ he said.
Sara-Igbe said the time for hate speech was over, as there was no wisdom in antagonising the president.
He added that “I want my people to understand the political dynamics because it is obvious that there will be a paradigm shift in the governance of the nation.
“I also want my people to understand that those beating war drums were the same people that distracted former president Goodluck Jonathan because they were protecting their stomachs.
“When the Niger Delta son was the president, did they advice him to fast track development in the region?.’’
He then urged President Buhari to ensure that youths not captured initially at the proclamation of the Federal Government amnesty were considered when the programme would be reviewed.
