Church Building Collapses, Kills One
A one storey-building
under construction belonging to the Redeemed Christian Church of God Rivers Province 2, Amazing Model Parish Iboloji Estate in Ozuoba, Obio/Akpor LGA, Rivers State, has collapsed leaving one dead and several others injured.
Speaking to The Tide, a Surviror of the collapsed building, Ifeanyi Nwokolo, expressed shock over threat to his life by family members of the late Uzoma who died in the building collapse.
According to him “Since after surviving the incident I have been receiving threat calls from several numbers asking me to go and confess to the family of the deceased what I know about their son’s death”.
“I was in my shop when Uzoma, who is my customer came in company with the Pastor and hired me to help remove bamboo sticks from the site”.
“While pulling the stick suddenly there was a noise in the building and I shouted, run the building is falling, and I managed to escape, only to discover that Uzoma has been trapped in the building”.
“I alongside the brick layers, carpenter working in the site with other people that came to help, tried to bring him out of the building, it was too late as he was already dead”, he said.
Nwokolo wondered why anyone would be threating his life after surviving such incident, calling on the relevant authorities and the general public to come to his aid.
Attempts to speak to both the family of the deceased and pastor of the Parish proved abortive as they declined to comment on the issue.
