Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers State indigenes in Rivers State, Akwa/Cross socio-cultural organisation has called on members of the organisation to perform their civic responsibilities by turning out enmass to vote during the forth coming general elections.
President of the body, Comrade Emmanuel Inyang gave the charge in Port Harcourt, recently during a press briefing to sensitise the body and the general public on the need for a credible and hitch-free transition exercise.
The President who re-stated the commitment of the body toward peaceful co-existence in Rivers State cautioned all stakeholders against indulgence in activities capable of causing violence during the elections.
He said the political awareness of Nigerians had risen above the culture of sub servience, and the only way to ensure accountability in governance was to participate actively in the electoral process by voting credible candidates.
Comrade Inyang charged members of the body, to visit their various registration centres and collect their Permanent Voters Cards to enable them vote during the elections.
The Akwa/Cross president also cautioned against infiltration of the body by some splinter groups parading themselves as Akwa/Cross members, noting that legal actions would be taken by the body to check the act.
