Dickson Wants Ijaw Leaders To Unite
Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, has urged Ijaw leaders to unite for the purpose of making greater impacts in the Nigerian nation and also to consolidate on the achievement made in the development of the area.
Speaking at the 70th birthday of an erstwhile Petroleum Minister, Chief Dan Etete at the Banquet Hall, Yenagoa, the governor tasked the people to stand up for what is right.
According to him, no one can pretend to be supporting the re-election bid of President Jonathan and in the process engage in acts that can destabilize the state for personal gains.
“So I count on all our leaders to stand up for what is right, stand up for what is fair, stand up for what is decent, protect what is good and I count on you all to continue to join us to mobilize our people in this state and outside to support the re-election of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
“Let me use this opportunity also to thank all our leaders, in spite of their retirement and challenges, who have continued to stand up to mobilize support, building networks and alliances in our nation to make the dream of his-re-election possible. But, I count on you all to also continue to work to support the government of this state.
He, therefore, urged all well-meaning people to join forces with the state government to protect the collective interest of the Ijaw nation, stressing that, it was essential that Bayelsa, being the only homogenous state for the Ijaws remained peaceful and stable to justify the dreams and sacrifices made by the founding fathers.
