RSHA Member Commissions Market, Transformers In Okrika
The member representing
Okrika in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Belema Okpokiri, has commissioned an ultra modern market and six transformers for the people of Okrika.
The market was constructed along the Okrika ring road at Ogoloma, while the transformers were sited at Okochiri, Egelebie Oba-Ama, George-Ama and Fiberesima Ama.
Speaking with newsmen during the commissioning of the ultra modern market, Hon Belema Okpokiri said that the market was part of his empowerment programme for women in the area.
He said that apart from the market, soft loans will be provided to thousands of women in the area, while skill a acquisition programme will be initiated for youths in all communities in Okrika Local Government Area.
According to him, both the market project and the various transformers were executed based on the demands of the people stressing that the situation would boost economic activities in the area.
Meanwhile, the Amanyanabo of Ogoloma, HRH Emmanuel T.I. Obudibo JP (Ikwor) has enjoined politicians to always put the interest of their people above their interest.
The king who said this while commissioning the ultra modern market built by the member representing Okrika in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Belema Okpokiri also commended the lawmaker for coming home to do something for his people and urged other politicians in the area to emulate him.
Also speaking, the Chairperson Market Women Association, Mrs Helen Alia Weta said that the situation would boost economic activities in the area.
Alia Weta who said that the women were happy for the project stressed that the market would boost the support of the people for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Okrika.
Also speaking, the APC Chairman in Okrika, Hon Christian Asefamaka said that the people will vote massively for the party in the area.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
