CRSG Pldeges Continued Investment In Itm
The Governor of Cross
River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, has pledged to invest in the Institute of Technology and Management (ITM), Ugep, to enable its students meet the demands of modern national socio-economic order and best practices of a modern society.
Governor Imoke, who stated this at the inaugural matriculation ceremony of the institution held recently in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area, noted that his vision to establish a world class Institute of Technology, made it imperative to partner with the Highbury College, London, to achieve this goal, adding that when completed, the new signature building would offer more state-of-the-art facilities to enhance teaching and learning.
He maintained that his administration was committed to ensuring that all programmes of the Institute were duly accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) before the end of his tenures.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Offiong E. Offiong, said “the ITM which is different from other polytechnics in the country was established to ensure that all its products are employed or become employers of labour upon graduation”.
He however urged the students to take their studies seriously, stating that the present administration has zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices found in higher institutions.
The event which was graced by traditional rulers and parents, among others, featured a procession by the matriculating students and good will messages from stakeholders.
