Group Cautions Against Electoral Violence
Rivers people have been
charged to shun all acts of electoral violence in order to enthrone permanent peace in the state.
The National Secretary of All Progressives Congress Grassroot Solidarity Alliance (ACGSA), Hon. Chinda Evans Ogbuji gave the charge when the interim National Chairman of the group Ahaji Mamamood Hashindu led a team of the executive members on a courtesy visit to his (Ogbuji) sick bed over the weekend in Port Harcourt.
Reacting to the seizure of several PVC last Saturday by some hoodlums suspected to be sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ward 11 (eleven) in Egbeda in Emohua local government area, he said such act was not only barbaric, but a huge threat to the country’s democracy.
Ogbuji, noted that the incident marred the entire exercise as voters were unable to collect their PVC, on Sunday when they reported to their various wards and units.
He also called on the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), to extend the duration of the exercise in order not to disenfranchise eligible voters in the area.
On the issue of Hon. Dakuku Peterside’s endorsement as the APC gubernatorial candidate he said, it was a welcome development, following his track record of performance both at the state and national levels.
He maintained that Peterside’s choice, had already sealed the victory for the party in the state.
He called on the people of Emohua Local Government Area to re-elect Hons Andrew Uchendu and Chidi Lloydod, adding that their leadership style had so far bridged the gap between the low and mighty in the area.
According to him, their political positions are not in doubt, adding that even the unborn at the grassroot is seeking for their continuous political presence at various levels in the nation.
