Boat Mishap: Three Bodies Recovered
Three bodies have
been recovered from Ekeremor River, Bayelsa State while divers are still searching for others, following a boat mishap that occurred last Saturday.
The mishap which involved the former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Peremoubowei Ebebi and many others claimed five lives.
According to the story, the former Deputy Governor was returning from his country home after attending the ward congress of his party, PDP.
However, the boat said to be over-loaded with party faithful and supporters ran into stormy waves and capsized.
Some of the victims swam to safety while the former deputy governor was said to have been saved by fishermen at the scene.
Meanwhile, police said it has begun investigation into the incident, as foul play was suspected.
Efforts to reach Hon. Ebebi for comments were not fruitful, but a political associate who chose to be anonymous said “my principal has left the whole incident to God. The most important thing is that our leader is alive to tell the story.”
