RSG Hails NAOC’s Road Project
The Rivers State Commis
sioner for Works, Hon Victor Giadom, has commended the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) for complementing the state government’s efforts towards rural road construction projects in the host communities.
He made the commendation last Friday, during the commissioning of 1.4 kilometre road with drains, constructed by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company and its joint venture partners in Omoku, Headquarter,s of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area.
The Commissioner, who was represented by Engr (Mrs) Okeyea, noted that the various road projects credited to NAOC in the area was an indication that the company had contributed immensely towards infrastructural development of the area which forms part of the primary focus of the state government.
The commissioner urged them to increase the pace in fulfilling their social-corporate responsibilities and with a view to complementing the state government efforts towards people oriented projects, as well as youth employment.
The representative of the Rivers State Ministry of Environment, Tony Kinika, lauded NAOC for fulfilling the terms of the memorandum of understanding entered into with the community, stressing that the community should on their part reciprocate the gesture by maintaining peace for oil operation to thrive and with a view to attracting more projects.
The General Manager, District, represented by the Assistant Manager, Community and Government Liaison, Mrs Grace Okpoyo, said the company’s investment on roads in the host communities borders on the importance NAOC attaches to the economic improvement and welfare of the host communities, noting that the project would further strengthen the existing cordial relationship between Omoku people and the company.
In his speech, the chairman, Omoku Central Community Development Committee, Dr Mbadiwe E. Woko, expressed appreciation over the various laudable Agip projects in the area, assuring that the community would maintain adequate peaceful business environment in the area.
