Group Urges Interest In Social Communication
Nigerians have been ad
vised to cultivate interest in health and social development communication issues.
A programme officer of the Centre for Communication Programs, Nigeria, Oluyemi Abodunrin gave the advice at the inaugural forum of the Africa Spring Board for Health and Social Development Communication held in Port Harcourt recently.
Abodurin said the programme was dynamic and would contribute to improved health and social development, pointing out that its mission had been to establish and sustain a forum for connection, exchange and leering among health and social development communication practitioners at all levels of the society.
He noted that the African Spring-board for Health Communication is a platform for exchange among health and social development communication practitioners in Africa that reinforced and extend its reach to existing communities on practice face to face on events and activities.
Also speaking, another programme officer of the centre, Oluseyi Akintola, said it is the duty of all to reduce conflict in their communities whenever they are identified and find lasting solution for the development and progress of the society.
Akintola noted that when there is no peace in a community, there would be no development and economic advancement, and called for a peace network in Nigeria as well as in the nine regions of Niger Delta.
He called for action to deal with situation in the states and agitated for peace partner, adding that as an NGO, their target was for peace building, customized training, and capacity building.
Highlight of the day was the inauguration of a five-man co-ordinating committee with Dr Patrick Ada as the Port Harcourt co-ordinator.
