NIPOST Adopts Track, Trace System
The Nigeria Postal
Services (NIPOST) has introduced an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in her system in a bid to meet up with the high speed and standard of growth in the industry.
A top management staff of NIPOST in its Port Harcourt headquarters, who pleaded anonymity, said last Wednesday during a chat with The Tide in Port Harcourt.
One of the latest innovations, he said, was the track and trace system that enables customers to follow up their goods fill delivery point.
He noted that the system has not only eased off some bottle neck associated with post services, but has brought peace to NIPOST users.
The NIPOST boss explained that the system uses about 13 digit unique identifier which customers use to trace their items.
Furthermore, he said that the NIPOST has properly adjusted itself as to rank among the leading post operators in the world.
He pointed out that NIPOST was not established merely for posting and receiving letters or mails, but other projects like printing and minting of currency.
According to him, most developed nations do their currency and all government papers through their postal service agency, adding that NIPOST alone can gulp all the unemployed graduates in the country if adequate attention was paid to it.
The NIPOST boss did not say much about the untilised items of the post, but called on members of the public to own private mail boxes, noting that most top big men in the country still prefer postal delivery, due to the nature of the item.
Meanwhile, he called on the Federal Government to lift ban on employment, saying that the NIPOST was under staffed.
