Commission Restates Commitment To LG Retirees
The Rivers State Local
Government Service Commission has restated its commitment to accord prompt attention to the welfare of retirees of the commission.
The Chairman of the Commission, Chief Nnamdi Wokekoro who disclosed this while declaring opened a re retirement workshop in Port Harcourt organized by the Commission also said that the Commission will liaise with relevant committee with the view to retaining the services of some retirees of the Commission.
Wokekoro urged the retirees to see their present situation as a source of joy noting that, this is the time for them to be prudent with their resources to enable them live happily for the rest of their lives.
The Commission Chairman who was the guest of honour at the workshop also said that his office is opened for the retirees who want to visit him as a group.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the retirement committee in the commission, Engr. Kingstone Idatonye Jaja said that the workshop was designed to erase fears of retirees about retirement.
Jaja said that retirement is a transition from one life to the other noting that there is no reason for workers to indulge in unplatalsle acts to prolong their stay in the service.
He also enjoined them to be good ambassadors of the commission by displaying qualities that units instead of one that divides.
In his goodwill message, the state President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employment (NULGE) Barrister Franklin Ajinwo urged the retirees to prepare themselves by learning new skills and acquiring more knowledge.
He commended the commission for the workshop and warned Desk Officers against unnecessary delay in the processing of retirees documents.
