Army Kills Dozens Of Boko Haram Insurgents In Ambush …Loses Three Soldiers In Gunfire
Troops on patrol around Delwa and neighbouring communities in Borno State, yesterday, successfully broke through insurgents’ ambush, 35kilometres to Maiduguri, as they advanced to dislodge insurgents who were massing up in the area.
The fierce fire fight that ensued as the troops wadded through the ambush left scores of insurgents dead, while three soldiers died in action.
The Defence Twitter said that seven soldiers who incurred various degrees of injuries have been evacuated for treatment while the troops have continued with their mission.
There were reports early yesterday that the deadly Islamic sect, Boko Haram, had taken over one of the major routes linking Maiduguri, the Borno State capital to the Southern parts of the state, forcing travellers to take other longer routes to their destinations.
Those travelling to the Borno South had to go through Yobe and Gombe states before turning northwards to get home, in what victims were said to have described as tortuous journey.
It was learnt that travellers going to Damboa and Biu were the worst hit by yesterday’s experience.
