Thousands of civil ser
vants at the Rivers State Secretariat Complex, Port Harcourt, are in grief following the death of a middle-aged woman who was hit by a glass from a window.
Eyewitness account informed The Tide that the deceased, Mrs Theresa Amadi, from Umuoye in Etche Local Government Area married to a man from Obite also in Etche was cut by a glass blade from the 14th floor of the Point Block.
According to the account, the late Mrs Theresa Amadi, a temporary staff of the Rivers State Ministry of Environment was leaning on the boot of a car parked close to the Sub-Treasury at the Secretariat Complex when the glass fell on her head.
Her body was taken to the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH) mortuary. The incident attracted thousands of civil servants who thronged the scene in sympathy with the deceased. However, some of sympathizers who spoke to The Tide described the incident as mysterious as it has never happened before.
“This is the work of satan”, exclaimed a senior civil servant, who spoke under condition of anonymity.”I have never seen something like this before,” he said.
The Head of service, Barrister Samuel LongJohn, who was also at the scene of the incident, however, declined comments when approached by journalists.
