Board Chairman Lauds Jonathan Over River Basin Authorities
The Chairman, Board of
Directors of Cross River Basin Development Authority, Mr Mike Nku, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his interest and support to River Basin Authorities in the country.
Nku gave the commendation in Calabar at a thanksgiving,/send-off and award ceremony for some staff of Cross River Basin Development Authority (CRBDA).
He said that the authority was executing water projects that would impact on the lives of the people in line with the Transformation Agenda of the present administration.
He called for the cooperation and commitment of staff in providing water to millions of people in Akwa Ibom and Cross River States.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of the authority, Mr Mfon Essien, said that the get-together was organised to appreciate hard work in the organisation.
Essien said that it was good for the organisation to pray for a better year 2014 and to give members of staff the opportunity to meet with members of the board.
“What we are doing here today is done by any serious organisation at the end of every year.’’
He said that the gathering was very necessary and described the event as an opportunity for policy-makers in the authority to rub minds on the issues affecting the organisation.
As part of the activities at the event, different categories of awards were given to individuals, including the Best Irrigation Project for 2013, which was won by Mr Osung Ntekim.
Others include Most Cooperating Community Award, Best Staff Award from the four directorates of the authority and Long Service Awards.
Ntekim told newsmen that the award came to him as a surprise and thanked the authority for considering him.
“I feel happy; I feel encouraged; I feel that one’s little effort is being recognised”, he said.
