Corruption Is Spiritual Cancer – Pastor
Nigerians have been enjoined to look beyond the physical in finding solutions to the problems bedeviling our society as most problems are mere manifestations of spiritual decay.
A man of God, Pastor Joshua Elkanah, of the World Revival Centre, Port Harcourt, who stated this in an interview with The Tide, said it was failure of the church that had snowballed into the decay, noting that most politicians who rape the resource of the nation go to churches and mosques. He said, “corruption cannot be legislated upon because it is a spiritual cancer and until the spiritual foundation is purged, we can only recycle political problems”.
“Most times, we think leaders are the problems, but they are products of the society. Political leaders go to churches but they don’t tell the truth. Pastors looking for contracts from politicians have not really vindicated God to the political class”, he maintained.
Speaking on the 9th anniversary of the church, Pastor Elkanah said the event, which has as its theme ‘Bringing Down God’s Glory’ would be graced by great men of God from different parts of the country including Rev Dr Joshua Afolabi from Lagos, to preach the word of God and also witness the dedication of the church building.
He noted that the massive sanitation in the area and provision of street lights were parts of the church’s proactive efforts towards its corporate social responsibilities to its lost communities.
Commenting on the significance of dedication to God, the man of God explained that it is vital for people to dedicate to God their houses, lands, children and important blessings as according to him, “God actually owns all these while we are caretakers. Once dedicated, the devil cannot touch them”.
