Commissioner Urges Students To Focus On Studies
A commissioner in the
Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, Chief Mbadiwe Allen Ewoh, has charged students of Ahoada West local government area to focus attention on their studies, shun cultism and respect constituted authorities in the various institutions of studies.
The commissioner gave the charge when the executive members of the National Union of Ahoada West Students paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Chief Ewoh, who stressed the need for the students to be of good behavior and to always conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors to the local government area wherever they may be.
He explained that when students were not distracted by engagements on antisocial activities but focus on their studies they would excel in their academic endeavours and become useful members of the society.
He regretted that some students had wasted their precious time on unacceptable practices and promised to continue to encourage academic activities in the area.
The commissioner donated 1000 exercise books for distribution to secondary schools in the area.
Earlier in his speech, the National President of the union, Mr Kingsley G. Ebiga, described Chief Ewoh as one who always has the people at heart and touches lives of the masses in various positive ways.
The national president disclosed that the commissioner had provided scholarship to students at primary, post primary and tertiary education level and remarked that some of them could not have completed their programmes with the commissioner’s assistance.
Mr. Ebiga noted that the commissioner’s gesture had made it possible for students in Ahoada West to get employment opportunities in multinational companies as well as reduced youth restiveness.
