35 Youths Get Foreign Scholarships
Special Adviser to the
President on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon. Kingsley Kuku, said last Monday in Abuja that it had offered scholarships to 35 Niger Delta youths.
The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Kingsley Kuku, said the scholarships were for under graduate and post graduate programmes in universities in the United Kingdom.
Kuku, who was represented by the Head of Reintegration Department in the office, Mr Larry Pepple, said at the Offshore Orientation and Departure Programme organised for the beneficiaries that the purpose was to develop the capacity of youths in the area.
He said 31 Itsekiri and four Ijaw youths were the latest group of beneficiaries in the scheme urged the beneficiaries to behave well while pursuing their studies.
He said the beneficiaries got the scholarship because their communities were affected by militancy and oil exploration.
Head, Education Unit in the office, Mr Eugene Abels, urged the beneficiaries to always save some money to avoid hardship in the event of delay in the payment of their stipends and disclosed that the office was responsible for their tuition fees and stipends, urged them to adhere strictly to the laws of their host country.
