RSG Plans Facelift For Govt Press

Baring any change in
plan, the Rivers State Government Printing Press would relocate to the premises of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation to enable the government undertake renovation work on its premises.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari said this in an interview with newsmen shortly after inspecting the on-going renovation work at the premises of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) in Port Harcourt.
Semenitari also said that arrangements were on to commence work on the Rivers State Government proposed media village, which when completed will house the State-owned Broadcast Media outfit.
The Commissioner said that the development was part of the move by the government to reposition the state-owned media organisations to enable them discharge their functions effectively.
She said that, the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation would soon take delivery of its Rotary machine, adding that approvals had been made for other state-owned media organisations.
Semenitari expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far in the Corporation, stressing that apart from the renovation of areas gutted by fire last year, other areas were also touched in the on-going renovation.
The General Manager of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, Mr. Celestine Ogolo who spoke to newsmen later said that the on-going renovation was an indication of government’s commitment to reposition the corporation, adding that the management is satisfied with the renovation work.
The Commissioner was conducted round the various sections of the Corporation by the General Manager, Mr. Celestine Ogolo and other members of the management.
