Boko Haram, A Criminal Gang -ACF
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) South South and South East Zones have described the Boko Haram group as a criminal gang that does not represent the interest of Muslims in Nigeria.
The Chairman of the Forum in the zone, Alhaji Musa Saidu who said this in an interview with newsmen during the eld-el Kabir celebration in Port Harcourt yesterday said that the ACF in the two zones are in support of the on-going effort by the Federal Government to rid the country of the menace of Boko Haram.
Alhaji Saidu said that apart from ending the Boko Haram menace, the government should device means of ridding the country of all criminal gangs such as, Kidnappers, armed robbers and 419ners while corrupt leaders must be punished.
He said it was wrong for some past corrupt leaders in the country to be walking freely, noting that it is sending a signal that some people are above the law.
The Moslem leader also urged for patriotism among Nigerians, stressing that the present situation where political offices are being tribalised in every part of the country was condemnable.
According to him, the lesson of Eld-el Kabir is for leaders to be selfless and tolerant of one another, while giving love and dispensing Justice to all.
He described the celebration significant inview of the 2015 general elections in the country and charged the government to divorce religion from politics.
Alhaji Saidu who is also the National President of New Nigerian Initiative (NNID) Worldwide said that the called has become necessary as many clergymen have abandoned their calling for politics.
Also speaking, the Onu Igala in Rivers State, Alhaji Sulaiman Hussan called for a National prayer conference instead of National dialogue, stressing that Nigeria needs more prayer owing to the gravity of what he described as national sins.
The Wakili Nupe Rivers State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shonga on his own part called for love among Nigerians.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
