Forum Seeks Govt’s Partnership For youth Empowerment
As Rivers State Government continues to work on how to improve and empower youths in the state, the Rivers Youth Empowerment Forum (REF) says the group is ready to partner with the government to realize its dream vision for the youths .
The President of the forum, Comrade Alfred Letam who stated this in an interview in Port Harcourt, said the body was working on how to engineer about 3.5 million active youths in the state to gain employment, stressing that the body has organised seminars , programmes and workshops for youths to improve their lots and map out destiny for themselves.
Letam said they have been working and encouraging youths at all times to take their destiny in their hands by engaging in a meaningful employment and developing the states and country at large.
He noted that the forum needs contracts and other businesses to empower themselves and others, but regretted that most of the youths in the state have refused to take calculated risk and responsibilities that would make them grow in their various endeavours
He urged youths in Rivers State to grab the opportunities presented by the present administration both at the primary and secondary levels to build and develop themselves.
Speaking on the on-going crisis ,the Rivers Youth Empowerment sued for peace ,noting that the continued crisis has stalled progress and other meaningful development in the state.
According to him ,most of the government activities have stopped while ministries and parastatals have lost focus because of non-supervision
Latem reminded the youths that they are the leaders of tomorrow and must look for a way to empower themselves and prepare for the future to enable them realize the dream of leaders of tomorrow.
