Chime Swears -In Five New Commissioners
Governor Sullivan Iheanacho Chime of Enugu State, Wednesday, swore-in five new commissioners. Those sworn-in at the Executive Council chambers of the Government House were Prof. Chris Okolo, Dr. George Okey Eze, Mr Nnaemeka Chukwuone, Mr Michael Nwachukwu and Mr. Michael Chukwuma Ene.
In a brief speech after the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Chime noted that the appointments arose from the need to inject fresh blood into the administration as it goes into the final two years of his tenure.
He thanked the new appointees for making themselves available for service, urging them to provide the “extra push we need as we get to the home stretch.”
The governor also charged them to discharge their new responsibilities with dedication and diligence, stressing that there was need to consolidate on the gains so far made by the administration in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
The five Commissioners had earlier been cleared by the State House of Assembly after the Governor forwarded their names last week.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, one of the new appointees, Prof. Chris Okolo pledged their commitment to ensuring that the vision and mission of the administration was fully achieved.
Their words: “We are here to contribute our quota towards assisting the Government and the Governor to move Enugu State to the next level. We thank His Excellency and his team for the marvelous job being done in this state and we pledge our commitment to assist in working assiduously to deliver services to our people”, they said.
