IYM, Stakeholders Pledge Solidarity Support For Amaechi
The Ikwerre Youth Movement, (IYM) and stakeholders of Ikwerre ethnic nationality have pledged their total support for the Rivers State Governor and re-elected Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
President-General of the movement, Hon. Azubuike Nwanjoku spoke on Sunday at the 2013 IYM National Congress Convention held in Port Harcourt.
Hon. Nwanjoku said the youths and people of Ikwerre, including well-meaning sons and daughters of Rivers State are happy with the leadership of Governor Amaechi who portrays the face of democracy in the state.
He expressed worry over the way and manner some faceless persons have been visiting the Presidency to lie against the Amaechi led administration, stating that the battle against Amaechi should be seen as the battle for Rivers people, and not Ikwerre people alone.
“Far away in Abuja, some persons have gone to tell lies to the Presidency against Amaechi, which is responsible for the political crisis in Rivers State. Some people think they can bring terrorism to Rivers State, the battle is the battle for Rivers people and not the Ikwerre people alone.
Tthe cabal that used to take away Rivers money have been planning against this administration for long time now, but Rivers money is for Rivers people, and where the few individuals cannot take this money into their private pockets, they went ahead to import political terrorism”, Hon. Nwanjoku said.
