Service Delivery: Perm Sec Charges Media Houses On Training
The Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Information, Mrs Jokotade Adamu, has called on media Houses in the state to accord priority attention to the training of its staff to enhance productivity and service delivery.
The Permanent Secretary gave the charge in Port Harcourt, during a one-day workshop on “Effective Marketing Strategies in Today’s Media Industry” organised by the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation, (RSBC).
The Permanent Secretary who commended the management of RSBC over the initiative said the media industry was faced with stiff competition and the only means of meeting up with the trend was through training and research.
She cautioned the staff of the corporation against truancy and urged them to take advantage of the workshop to improve their capacity for service delivery.
According to the permanent secretary an effective media house does not require a large staff component but a strong capacity to meet up its set objective.
In her remarks, the General Manager of the Corporation, Medeline Tador said the workshop was in line with management’s objective to train the staff of the corporation to discharge their duties effectively in line with he modern demands of the media industry.
The General Manager said, the RSBC Management was poised to ensure that the corporation maintained its pioneer leading role in service delivery.
Also speaking, the guest discussant, Dr Renny Cookey, said “effective marketing in today’s media depend on the components of exchange, dialogue, communication, winning loyalty and match making.”
He noted that the media, especially broadcast, was operating at a highly competitive spate and it required a great entrepreneurial skill to remain in business.
He pointed out that “a good marketing strategy for a Media House was to know its target customers, needs to be met, product identification, branding, price and full use of competitive advantage within the clime of operation.”
