Nigeria, US Firms Partner On Car Care Products
A Lagos-based car care marketing company, Coin Ventures Limited, is collaborating with three American companies to bring quality car care products to the country.
The Chief Executive Officer, Coin Ventures, Mr. Ike Okafor, said for a long time, quality car-care products had been unavailable in the country.
A statement from the firm, obtained on Tuesday, quoted him, as saying that the search for the right products for the highly demanding Nigerian auto market led to the introduction of the American products into the country.
It gave the American firms as Technical Chemical Company, makers of Johnsen Car Care Products, Freezetone Product Inc, renowned for vehicle coolants and radiator additives, and Omni Specialty Packaging, producers of ATF and engine oil.
Okafor, a West Virginia University, USA, trained engineer, explained that his passion for the automobile industry and the quest to offer world-class products at affordable prices led to the research for the three brands.
He said, “I have watched with pains, what people go through as a result of using low quality care products, which often times leads to breakdown of vehicles on the road and loss of investment in the car. Hence, we have decided to offer these world-class products to Nigeria.
”As a petroleum engineer and with many years experience in the lubricant industry, I searched for products that have good research and development in the various categories and settled with the three that we are bringing to Nigerians.”
According to him, price is not the attraction, but quality in the long run.
The Coin Ventures boss said that a typical United States company would not cut corners to make profit; hence, the product they bring to Nigeria is of the same quality and standard with the ones in the American market.
In addition, he said the products, certified by SONCAP, had been tested by Intertek Automobile Research to ensure they were of high standard.
Okafor, highlighting the danger of using fake car care products, said, “With fake car care products, you record unnecessary breakdowns and that means you will be troubled and can’t function well. It can affect your health when you spend time w ith the mechanics. You could end up losing the car if you don’t take time or replacing a whole engine due to the use of sub-standard products.”
According to him, many Nigerian car owner hardly use the right car care products.
