The Police AIG in-charge of Zone 5, Benin, Salihu Argungun, has promised to collaborate with the FRSC to tackle traffic congestion on major Edo routes during the end of the year festivities.
Argungu made the promise in Benin when the FRSC Zonal Commanding Officer RS5, Wole Olaniran, paid him a courtesy visit to seek for his assistance during the end of the year festivities.
The FRSC’s zone comprises Edo, Delta and Bayelsa while the Police Zone 5 includes Edo, Delta and Anambra States.
Argungun expressed gratitude to Olaniran and his team for the visit and assured that both the Police and the FRSC would collaborate as security agencies to address the issue of traffic gridlock in the state.
The AIG commanded the commander for his reform in the FRSC.
Earlier, Olaniran expressed appreciation to the Police for the cardinal relationship the corps had enjoyed from them and sued for further collaboration with a view to making the roads accident-free during the yuletide.
He also sought for the release of the Police heavy duty tow truck for the removal of broken down heavy duty vehicles, especially tankers and trailers that caused heavy traffic on some major highways.
Olaniran requested for Police back-up for easy rescue operations within the accident-prone routes in the zone.
He also used the opportunity to enlighten the AIG about the FRSC Toll-Free Emergency NO coded “122” which enables the corps to respond to distress calls when dialled on the major GSM nerworks.
Olaniran urged the police to key into that laudable faciity in order to assist in giving report on road traffic crash whenver the need arose.
