Army Investigates Alleged Shooting In PH
The 2 Brigade, Sector 2 Nigerian Army Joint Task Force, Operation Pulo Shield, says it is investigating the alleged shooting of a commuter bus Wednesday by soldiers at Agip Round About check point, Mile 4, Port Harcourt.
The Tide reports that a stray bullet allegedly hit a four-year old child in the head during the said shooting.
In a press release signed by the Army Public Relations Officer, Major Michael Etete, the army said investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced.
According to the release, preliminary investigation by the Nigerian Police indicated that soldiers deployed at the location did not fire their rifles as their ammunition were complete.
While the Brigade sympathises with those said to have been injured during the incident, it also condemned those behind the incident.
It, however, cautioned that it is premature and unsubstantiated to say that soldiers in the general area shot at the commuter bus, saying that two persons who sustained injuries are receiving treatment in a hospital.
The Brigade, therefore, assured the general public that no stone would be left unturned to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrators to book.
