A delegation of French investors and entrepreneurs are expected to storm Rivers State next year to explore investment opportunities and promote sustainable business partnerships with their Rivers counterparts.
The Vice President, Total Exploration and Production Company, Mr Guy Loup Motte, who gave this hint when he led a delegation from Total on a visit to the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (PHCCIMA), in Port Harcourt, last week, assured that Total will facilitate the visit of a delegation of businessmen from France to harness the business potentials of the state.
Noting that the success of any nation rests on entrepreneurship, the Total vice president assured that his company will work with PHCCIMA to promote investments between Nigeria and Europe, particularly French business community.
He said that already, Total was working on a small business centre with young amateur companies to grow their businesses.
According to him, if the project proves successful, Total will replicate the centre in other parts of the state, and commended PHCCIMA for supporting Total’s economic empowerment and business growth ventures in the state.
Motte assured the people of the state and the organised private sector of the commitment of Total to the economic empowerment of its host communities and the growth of investment and industries in Nigeria.
The vice president, who is also the director, international operations of Total, expressed delight with the growth in the relationship between Total and PHCCIMA in the past few years, and stated that the commissioning of four economic empowerment projects in Egi Kingdom was the product of the relationship.
He explained that projects being commissioned in Egi included Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Network Centre, Egi Technical Centre, HP Micro Credit Centre and Egi Centre for Arts and Culture.
Earlier, President, PHCCIMA, Dr Vincent Furo, had expressed satisfaction that the projects conceived through PHCCIMA a few years ago had come to fruition.
Furo commended Total for resolving some seemingly intractable issues with its host communities after the recent explosion in one of its facilities in Egi, which claimed lives.
“I am happy that you have maintained good relationship with your host communities after the incident,” Furo said.
