Ahoada Technology Park To Gulp N266bn – Firm
Techder Energy Plc,
an indigenous oil and gas consortium has budgeted the sum of N266 billion for
the development of the old Ahoada industrial estate into technology park.
The Chief Operating Officer of the company, Dr. Joshua Gogo,
said this in an interview with newsmen during a sendforth party for one of the
company staff, Mr. Uwoh Awala, who is proceeding to the United Kingdom for a
Master Degree programme.
Dr. Gogo said that the project will start as soon as all the
necessary agreements are signed between Techder management and the Rivers State
Government.
He said that the first phase of the project will last for
five years, stressing that the project, when completed, will create opportunity
for local utilisation of the abundant oil and gas resources of the state.
According to him, the Ahoada Technology Park (ATP) would
help to ensure the effective participation of the people of the Niger Delta in
the oil and gas industry, thereby diversifying the region’s economic base
through enhanced industrial activities.
“The ATP is a response to a development strategy proposed by
the Rivers State economic advisory council in the development corridor of the
Niger Delta.
“ATP seeks to stimulate and manage the flow of knowledge and
technology among companies, governments, universities research and development
institutions and markets,” he said.
During the sendforth party, Dr Gogo said that Techder has
come to stay and the objective is to ensuring the processing of resources
produced in the country.
He further said that the company will ensure that oil and
gas technology is domicilled in the state. The Techder Chief Operating officer
further said that the party will serve as encouragement to everyone to be
serious with whatever he/she is doing.
Also speaking, Mr. Chimeyadu Ezebalike said that the company
was appreciating Uwoh Awala for what he has done for the company within his
short stay in it.
He noted that it is the policy of Techder to always invest
in knowledge.
Earlier, Mr. Uwoh Awala who is proceeding to the University
of Cronfield United Kingdom for his Master Degree, thanked the company for the
show of appreciation, promising that knowledge acquired will be used to develop
the state.
