Commissioner Explains Importance Of One-Stop-Shop
The Commissioner, Rivers State Ministry of Urban Development
and Physical Planning, Dr. Tammy
Danagogo, has called on the people of Rivers State to make use of the one
stop-shop for applications and approval of building plans by the ministry.
The commissioner made this call in Port Harcourt when speaking with the
chairman and executive council of Nigerian Institute of Architect who paid a
courtesy call on him in his office said that the aim of the one-stop-shop is to
bridge the gap between the ministry and
the Rivers State populace and to simplify plan assessment and approval process.
Dr. Danagogo explained that the new one-stop-shop will
eliminate touting and fraudsters that destroy the good image of the ministry,
while emphasising that this is a good initiative to structure and simplify
building approval processes.
He advised the people to inquire and submit all applications
for their land development permits,
which include building plans, renovation and fencing permit among others.
He, therefore, directed that
all developers should go directly to Room 37,7th Floor, Block B, Rivers
State Secretariat Complex, Port Harcourt for their applications and enquiries.
The commissioner further stressed that the developers should
desist from passing through touts, third parties, intermediaries or middlemen
to approve their building plans.
In their reaction, the Nigerian Institute of Architects
commended the commissioner for his bold
efforts in addressing the problems associated with the building approval and pledged to use their professional knowledge to support and
co-operate with the ministry for effective service to the people of
Rivers State.
